100k Opportunities

Opportunity Fair & Forum

The mission of the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative is to create, build and grow the nation’s largest employer-led, private sector coalition of U.S.-based companies that are committed to actively creating career pathways, training, and engaging 100,000 opportunity youth by 2018. The Opportunity Fair & Forum was created to tackle the challenges of access and opportunity for 5.6 million Americans between the ages of 16 and 24 who are not in school or working.

The Opportunity Fair brings together a coalition of 30+ companies and 25+ community based organizations, who attend the event with the purpose of engaging with thousands of opportunity youth in anticipation of making hundreds of on-the-spot job offers.  The Opportunity Forum, complements the fair and is hosted by community influencers, entertainers and other speakers who lead an open discussion between attendees and the collection of support networks focusing on their economic opportunity in today’s America.

Onsite activations provided opportunities for attendees to build a resume, participate in mock interviews with CEOs, meet with recruiters from companies like Macy’s, Starbucks, Target, TOMS, and Microsoft, get styling tips and measured for new outfits from Nordstrom and participate in inspirational forums led by Common, DJ Khaled, Usher and many others.
